On Monday, my class and I when to the Oklahoma City capitol to talk to representatives about teacher pay raise. There was going to be a vote on whether or not the Oklahoma teachers should get a pay raise. We were trying to get the representatives to vote yes. We talked to a few representative such as Strahm. He was voting no, but we tried to change his vote. I learned about why he was voting no. One of the reasons was because it would raise tax on cigarettes and gasoline. He also though they would lose money. He listened to our side which I thought was polite. After we were done talking we walked to the front of where they where going to vote, The House of Representatives, and held our signs of our former teachers. We stood in silences for a few minutes, then we got ready to leave for school. Overall, I had a great time at the Capitol, I learned a lot about the vote and the different sides.
